The application for outline permission for up to 113 houses on a 5.9ha site outside the village envelope of Baldwins Gate was refused by Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Planning Committee in March 2014. Kier Living submitted a ‘reserved matters’ application for approval of layout, design and appearance of the development in December 2015. The application was refused by Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Planning Committee in May 2016. A subsequent ‘reserved matters’ application for 109 houses was permitted in October 2016. Ground was broken for the development in November 2016.
